New How to Build a Patio Cover

How to Build a Patio Cover

You should consider placing a patio cover in your patio to protect it from unpredictable weather. It will also help protect the things that are installed in your area and you do not have to remove each piece indoors each time the weather is bad.

MATERIALS NEEDED IN CONSTRUCTING A PATIO COVER

The materials that you needed for your project are one box of two inches of deck screws, eight 2 by 4 lengths of treated lumber, which should be long enough to reach the place that you want to conceal, 2 pairs of 4 by 4 lengths of pre-treated lumber, each eight ft. long, two bags of cement, H2O, a box of two inches nails and corrugated plastic that is enough to conceal your desired place.

TOOLS

The tools that you needed for this endeavor are saw, tape measure, shovel, hammer, ladder, level, electric screwdriver and drill.

STEPS IN BUILDING YOUR PATIO COVER

Dig an eighteen inches deep hole at the 4 sides of your patio using a shovel. Measure the outer area of these 4 holes. Divide one two inches by four inches length that is the same length of each side. Install these 2 inches by 4 inches lengths around the outside perimeter of the area.

Place two inches screws at each intersection with the help of an electric screwdriver. Install the remaining two inches by four inches lengths above the frame made by the 1st one and perpendicular to the initial 4 frame. Place two inches screws at each point with the aid of the screwdriver.

Install the four inches by length vertically in the initial hole. With the help of struts to keep it in position, carefully pour cement and H20 inside the hole. Make sure that the lumber is straight by using a level. The struts will make sure that it will stay in position until the cement has hardened. Repeat the same procedure with the other holes. After the cement has hardened completely, place dirt over it.

Install the frame made by the two inches by four inches above the four inches by four inches poles. Use the screwdriver to place two inches screws at each intersection of the frames. Install the corrugated plastic above it. Use nails to secure the plastic to the upper portion of the frame. After finishing your project, you can just relax and enjoy the view under your brand new cover.

ADDITIONAL TIPS

Be careful when you are using any type of machinery and wear safety goggles to prevent any unnecessary injury. Measure each part carefully so that it will fit correctly with each other. Wait until the cement has fully hardened before installing the frame of the roof to avoid any slanting.
